Your glasses are currently being fabricated and this will take a minimum of six weeks (September 1st marks six weeks since the clinic). We plan to start contacting patients in the next 7-14 days to let them know when and where to pick up their glasses.
Thank you for your compliments! Your glasses are currently being fabricated and will take at least six weeks (September 1st). We plan to start calling patients regarding when and where to pick them up in the next 7-14 days.
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to MedWorks for making free eye exam and glasses. I know The lines were long but I feel it ran great for the first time and being FREE! I am just following up on the status of my glasses, which were sent out. I was #122, if someone could just inform me of an approx. date it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Again!
I had my eyes examined, picked out frames, and was waiting for my glasses to be made when the machine broke down. I was told I would be told where to pick up glasses in a couple of weeks. Its been 4 weeks. What is next for me to do?
We apologize that we have not contacted you yet. We have been working tirelessly to get all of the patients turned away in for free eye exams so that we can make your glasses. Unfortunately, the resources are very limited which explains why we had such a large turnout that day. We do understand that people who had higher numbers were seen and that the system was far from perfect. However, this was our first time doing a walk in only vision clinic and we will learn from our mistakes. Please understand that we are a new, small non-profit trying to serve the people of Northeast Ohio and to be patient with this process. Please email us at info@medworksusa.org (info null@null medworksusa NULL.org) or call the office (216-231-5350) and provide us with your name and contact information so that we can confirm that we have you on the list because we have begun to schedule people for free eye exams.
“First come, first served” is not true. The numbers we were given when standing in line were disregarded by your staff after the “triage” phase. I had number 661 but many who came after me managed to move ahead, simply by getting back into line faster. (Not to mention that a few people took adavantage of the unsupervised conditions then to grab a spot nearer to the front.)
I and some others didn’t complain about this at the time, because volunteers were still assuring the crowd that all would be examined and would get glasses. To complain then would probably not have helped the situation, and might have only made the uncomfortable waiting period even worse – so we accepted being moved back in line.
In the end, after twelve hours of being herded, we were told that “some of you won’t be getting glasses today.” A volunteer promised to contact us in about a week, with information about new arrangements to have our eyes examined and our glasses made. We were allowed to pick out frames from those still remaining.
I still have my frames. It’s two weeks since the Big Event. I have no glasses. No one has called.
We apologize for any frustration and inconvenience you encountered on the day of the event. All advertised information regarding the vision clinic stated the event was first come, first served. MedWorks was prepared to provide services for up to 800 people between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., and unfortunately we had no way of anticipating that we would have over 1,000 people waiting in line before 9 a.m. We suggest contacting VisionUSA to be directed to free or low cost vision care in your area. They can be reached at 1-800-766-4466. Please let us know if you need any further assistance!
As MedWorks is not an actual medical clinic and hosts free mass medical clinics in different locations throughout the year, we suggest contacting VisionUSA at 800-766-4466 for more information about how to obtain a free eye exam and glasses.
Since I coulnd’t get in to the Q to get a free exam July 20, 2011, how and where could I get an exam & glasses through your establishment? Thank you for your attention to this matter.
First, I have to congratulate MedWorks for all of its good work – but, why was the Vision Clinic not advertised correctly – if we had known that it would be closed at 9:30 AM – my disabled husband and I would not have taken a cab to the Q at 9:00. Please be more forthcoming in the future. Thank you.
Veronica,
I hope you are all set now for your glasses pick up!
