MedWorks, a Cleveland-based provider of free healthcare services to the under- and uninsured, is calling for help in creating and equipping a mobile operating room to help care for those hurt in this week’s Joplin, MO tornado.
MedWorks has sent a variety of emergency care materials and volunteers to Joplin, MO in response to this week’s tornado. In discussions with the staff at the heavily damaged St. John’s Hospital, MedWorks founder Zac Ponsky learned of the urgent need for the mobile operating room. To begin this effort, MedWorks enlisted Mobile Medical of Vermont, which is set to arrive in Joplin on Friday.
In addition, MedWorks secured a donation for an operating room table from STERIS Corporation that is due to arrive in Joplin shortly.
However, MedWorks urgently needs additional resources to assist with this effort. To help, please contact Zac Ponsky at 440-773-2938, or go to www.medworksusa.org and click on Donate.
Hi Sue,
Thank you for your wonderful offer to assist MedWorks with relief efforts in Joplin, MO! Right now we understand the relief effort is more in the form of logistics. MedWorks is gathering a list of interested volunteers and will be emailing out updates. Please let us know if you have any questions! -Alyson
I have limited resources (I’m a radiation oncologist!)
But I am willing to donate time locally at the Cleveland end if you need physical help with something, mailing, even soliciting for donations. I’m happy to help. I also might have time to go to Joplin the first week of June 6-10 if I can be useful ( I can assist in the OR I guess.)

i have AN OPERATING ROOM TABLE I can donate.
