On May 23rd, MedWorks was contacted by a doctor at triage in Joplin, MO in a request for assistance to the communities in need. MedWorks loaded up a large moving truck donated by Berman Moving Company with items from the MedWorks storage facility. The items being shipped include canes, crutches, bandages, disposable gloves, braces, wound care and more. Giant Eagle also graciously donated pallets of water which were also loaded on to the truck – which is expected to arrive in Joplin, MO on Wednesday, May 25th.
Two MedWorks volunteers left Cleveland early in the morning on May 24th to complete a Needs Assessment of supplies and medical personnel in Joplin, MO to help bridge the communication line between the on-scene command and MedWorks. This way MedWorks will be able to continue to respond to the needs of Joplin in the upcoming days and weeks.
